Grant aid is an essential part of the local funding mix for community organisations and remains essential for thriving local communities.
10 leading organisations (including WRC,
NAVCA, the
Directory of Social Change (DSC) and the
Community Foundation Network) have launched a campaign to promote the importance of grant aid for voluntary and community sector organisations. A campaign leaflet –
Sustaining Grants leaflet – outlines why grant aid is so important and gives real life examples.
There is also an
Sustaining Grants editable leaflet in which you can add in your own case studies. Women's organisations (and others) can add local examples to help make the leaflet more relevant.
Defending local grants outlines resources you can use to convince councillors, commissioners and procurement officials that grants should be used to fund local organisations and groups.
Some people do recognise the importance of grants. Here is the
Department of Health's guidance to Primary Care Trusts on the importance of grants(Word, 232KB) and not just commissioning.
