Published by: Women's Resource Centre

This guide is to help public bodies engage more effectively with women's voluntary and community organisations. The impact of commissioning on women's organisations

Published by: Women's Resource Centre

A report on the impact the current trend towards commissioning and procurement has on the women’s voluntary and community sector. Aimed mainly at commissioners, it will also be useful to women’s organisations looking to engage in the commissioning agenda. We focus specifically on the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) to highlight how commissioning can, and often does, fail women and their children. We make recommendations as to how the commissioning process can become more effective by engaging the women’s sector and ensure a diverse service provider base.

Gender equality scheme: a template for local public bodies

Published by: Women's Resource Centre

This template outlines some of the cross-cutting issues that public bodies should include in their gender equality schemes. Public bodies should also consult local women's organisations to ensure their concerns are reflected in the scheme.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) have also produced guidance for public bodies on revising their Gender Equality Schemes.

Realising Rights, Fulfilling Obligations: A template for an integrated strategy on violence against women for the UK

Published by: End Violence Against Women

This document is the culmination of decades of work by activists and academics who have lobbied for violence against women (VAW) to be recognised as a cause and consequence of gender inequality, and for governments to respond with the measures required by international human rights obligations.

The report sets out what an integrated strategy would look like for the UK, whilst paying particular attention to nations and regions; forms of VAW; Black Minority Ethnic women and other disadvantaged groups.

Local Government Improvement and Development (formerly IDeA) provides up-to-date information on equality policy and practice, such as where to find evidence and data, guidance on legislation and examples of good practice.
